FamilyBoard

The family calendar app that actually keeps your whole family in sync

A shared family calendar with voice input, color-coded schedules per kid, and smart reminders. Built for busy parents who are done juggling five apps.

Coming soon. Email support@familyboard.io for early access.

Built by parents, for parents

We started FamilyBoard because our own family calendar was a mess. Post-its on the fridge, screenshots in the group chat, one parent missing an invite. There is a better way — and this is what we are building.

How FamilyBoard works

Three steps from chaos to calendar. No complicated setup — you will be running in under five minutes.

01

Add your family

Invite your partner, kids, or grandparents with a single link. Each person gets their own color. Younger kids do not need a device — parents stay in control.

02

Say or type what is happening

"Mia has soccer Tuesday at 5pm" — that is all you need. FamilyBoard figures out who, what, and when, and creates the event for you. Prefer typing? That works too.

03

The app assigns it to the right person

The event lands on the right family member, in the right color, and shows up for everyone instantly. Every Sunday you get a calm weekly summary — with conflicts, gaps, and reminders already flagged.

A shared family calendar built for real families

Twenty-seven features that solve the scheduling your family actually has — not another empty calendar to fill.

Input & AI

Say 'Mia has soccer Tuesday at 5pm'

Add events with your voice. FamilyBoard understands who, what, when — and assigns it to the right person.

NEW

Your family's own calendar inbox, new in v2.4

Every family gets a private alias address (calendar-xxx@familyboard.io). Forward emails from school, a club, or the coach — AI extracts time, place and attendees and proposes the event in the Inbox.

Import from your iPhone calendar

No need to abandon your existing calendar. Import events from iOS Calendar with one tap — duplicates are skipped automatically.

What to bring — AI finds things to pack

Does the email say 'bring a packed lunch'? AI adds it to the event automatically. The evening before at 8 PM you get a reminder.

AI weekly summary every Sunday

Get a calm overview of the week ahead — including conflicts, gaps, and reminders.

Family logistics

One calendar for the whole family

Shared and color-coded per family member. See instantly who's doing what — no double-checks or double-bookings.

NEW

Rolling schedules that run themselves, new in v2.4

Create 2-, 3-, or 4-week cycles for pickups, dinners, or activities. Edit cycle length, anchor week, or template after the fact.

Handoffs between parents

Flag any pickup or dinner as 'needs a swap' — the other parent takes over with one tap.

NEW

Hand off via SMS / iMessage, new in v2.4

Need grandma to do the pickup? Send the activity to anyone without FamilyBoard via iMessage. Time, place and the reminder come pre-filled.

Booking links for kids' activities

The coach or school can send a link. Click, confirm — and the slot lands on the right child in the family calendar.

NEW

Availability sharing with month overview, new in v2.4

Send a link where others can book a slot with you. The recipient sees the whole month with your free days marked in green — not a long list of time slots.

Bonus family — share the calendar across two homes

Divorced or blended household? Link two families and choose which events show up in both.

Tessa integration for work schedules

Connect your Tessa iCal link. The schedule syncs automatically and you get a push when something changes.

Overview & reminders

NEW

Smart real-time reminders, new in v2.4

Inbox suggestions, availability bookings, and handoffs reach you immediately — not only when you open the app.

NEW

Daily summary, morning and evening, new in v2.4

Different times for weekdays and weekends, an evening notification 'tomorrow: 3 events', or skip weekends entirely.

Leave on time — travel time on every event

With a location on the event, the app calculates when you need to leave and sets a reminder 25 minutes ahead.

Home screen widget, Apple-style

Three sizes plus a lock screen version. The large one shows today and tomorrow with a vertical timeline and a red now-line.

Apple Watch — glance, speak, hand off

Today view right on your wrist, voice input with quick-add, and accept or decline handoffs without picking up your phone.

AI weekly menu + shopping list

Tell FamilyBoard how you eat and it suggests 7 dinners and a consolidated shopping list.

Six color themes across the whole app

Sage, ocean, soleil, blossom, forest, slate. The switch applies instantly to the app, widget, and lock screen.

Privacy & integrations

Privacy first

Data is encrypted and stored in the EU. No ads, no trackers. Delete the entire family with one tap whenever you want.

Sync with iPhone, Google and Outlook

Import from or export to your iPhone, Google, or Outlook calendar.

Shared family lists — shopping, packing, to-do

Create lists the whole family can see and tick off together. Four types: shopping, packing, to-do, and other.

AI packing lists in 10 seconds

Say where you're going and for how long — FamilyBoard generates a compact packing list tailored to the kids' ages.

Your pets' essential info, all together

Microchip number, allergies, feeding notes, the vet's phone number. Available to every adult in the family.

Kids' health info — when it matters

Blood type, allergies, medications, and emergency contacts per child. Never visible to the children themselves.

The family's documents in one place

Insurance papers, school forms, contracts — up to 25 MB per file, encrypted and only visible to active family members.

What the app looks like

Five tabs that cover the whole family's everyday life — without overcrowding the app.

FamilyBoard Today view on iPhone with the week's events and conflict counter

Today

Today's overview with person filters, weekly summary, and upcoming events. One tap to see what each person is doing.

FamilyBoard Calendar view with month and week toggles

Calendar

Day, week, or month. Color-coded per family member. ISO week numbers at the top so you always know which week you're on.

FamilyBoard Inbox with AI-extracted event proposals

Inbox

AI-parsed proposals from forwarded emails. Review title, time, location, and items to bring before approving with one tap.

FamilyBoard Handoffs with pending and accepted activities

Handoffs

Hand off pickups between parents without SMS threads. Pending until the other parent accepts — then the event automatically moves.

FamilyBoard Settings with family members and premium row

Settings

Family members with roles, theme, notifications, bonus family links, and subscription. All in one place.

Who is FamilyBoard for?

We built FamilyBoard for the families whose daily life does not fit a standard calendar grid.

Busy parents with multiple kids

When three kids have three activities across three nights, Google Calendar turns into a wall of text. FamilyBoard color-codes by child and shows the week as an overview — not a list.

Shift workers and irregular schedules

Working 2-2-3, nights, or rotating shifts? Enter your pattern once — FamilyBoard rolls it forward and matches pickups and dinners against it automatically.

Co-parents living apart

Share a calendar with your co-parent without sharing your whole life. FamilyBoard has a dedicated co-parent view that shows only what needs to be shared.

Parents with teenagers

Teens want their own view — parents want to know when they will be home. FamilyBoard gives teens ownership of their calendar while the family still sees the whole picture.

Frequently asked questions

The questions parents ask us most often. Still stuck? Email support@familyboard.io.

What is included in the subscription?

Everything. Your FamilyBoard subscription unlocks unlimited family members, voice input, rolling schedules, AI weekly summaries, booking links, and parent handoffs. We do not hide features behind extra in-app purchases — the same price gives the same app to your whole family, whether there are two of you or eight.

Is there a free family calendar app version?

You can try FamilyBoard free for 14 days — no credit card required, just an Apple or Google account. That is long enough to set up a shared family calendar, invite everyone, and see whether it sticks. After the trial, pick monthly or yearly. Want to read more first? See our post on why we built FamilyBoard.

How does Family Sharing work for the subscription?

One person pays, the whole family gets access. Through Apple Family Sharing or Google Play Family Library, up to six people can share your subscription at no extra cost. You can also invite grandparents as read-only members without them paying anything at all.

Is our data safe?

Yes. All family data is encrypted and stored on servers inside the EU, we are fully GDPR-compliant, and we run no advertising or third-party tracking. We never sell data. You can export or delete your entire family with one tap in the app. See our privacy policy for the full details.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. Your subscription is managed by the App Store or Google Play. Cancel once in your system settings and FamilyBoard keeps working until the end of the current period. No lock-in, no cancellation fees, no support queue to sit in.

Does it work on Android?

Yes. FamilyBoard runs on iPhone, iPad, and Android, and mixed households work seamlessly — one parent on Android, one on iPhone, kids on either. A browser version (familyboard.io/app) is arriving in early 2026 for desktop use at home.

What happens if I get a new phone?

Nothing to worry about. All family data lives on our EU servers, so you sign in on the new phone and everything is there — calendar, members, rolling schedules, history. Your subscription is tied to your Apple or Google account, not the device.

Can I import from Google Calendar or iCloud?

Yes. FamilyBoard reads events from Google Calendar, iCloud, and Outlook via iCal subscriptions. Import your work calendar once and it syncs automatically — and the kids' school schedule can come in the same way. We do not write back to outside calendars without explicit permission.

How do I set up a family calendar that actually gets used?

The pattern that works: pick a single shared family calendar, color-code by person (not by activity), invite both adults day one, and spend ten minutes on Sunday glancing at the week ahead together. FamilyBoard is built around that habit — voice input lowers friction, smart reminders reach everyone, and rolling schedules handle recurring activities so the weekly sync is a glance, not a meeting. For the detailed walk-through, see our guide on how to set up a family calendar.

How does voice input work?

Tap the mic and say anything: "Mia has soccer Tuesday at 5pm" or "John and I out for dinner Friday". FamilyBoard uses AI to parse the who, what, and when, then shows you an event to confirm with one tap. Voice input works in all six supported languages.

Is it suitable for kids?

FamilyBoard is built with families in mind and collects no advertising data on children. Younger kids do not need their own device — parents control everything. Teens can have their own login with a limited view. See our guide on digital calendar boundaries for kids.

Can I sync FamilyBoard with Apple, Google or Outlook Calendar?

Yes. You can export FamilyBoard as a subscription feed (.ics) that works in Apple Calendar, Google Calendar and Outlook. You can also import any calendar that exposes an iCal URL. On iPhone you also get native two-way sync with the iOS calendar — turn it on under Settings → Calendar integrations.
